Mathematics is a fascinating subject, but it often goes unappreciated. Through short lectures, I aim to showcase its beauty.

In mathematics, the notions of length (1D), area (2D) and volume (3D) are all particular cases of the notion of measure when taking their respective dimensions. It doesn't really make sense to talk about the area of a line segment (1D) or a cube (3D), nor the length of a triangle. But is there anything between a line/length and a rectangle/area? We'll see that we can actually talk about 1.5-dimensional objects that exist in reality!

We will start with a ~90-minute presentation on measure. Then we will have a dinner where we can use what we learned to talk about Zeno's paradoxes.

No particular math knowledge is required. If you've studied related things like calculus/integrals (esp multi-dimensional), it may increase your enjoyment of the subject. But I probably won't even refer to concepts from there.

The price includes the dinner, which will be tailored to attendees' dietary restrictions and preferences. The location on the event page is approximate because the event will take place in my home.

Why 4.99? Because Meetup fees jump at 5.
