July Women’s Sweat Lodge Ceremony - Temazcal

Details

What is a Temazcal?

The Temazcal – or Sweat Lodge – is one of the most ancient ceremonies on earth.
It has been part of the spiritual practices of various ancestral cultures throughout the history of humanity and around the world. Some of these cultures have succeeded in maintaining these practices up until today, others haven’t. We want to keep it alive and accessible for those who seek it.
When entering the Temazcal we allow ourselves to be purified physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually, and to confidently open up to the mystery of transformation. We enable ourselves to let go of all that prevents us from growing towards wholeness.

This is a space to renew our vitality, purify our body and look after our health. It is in this intimate darkness that we are able to see and let go of that which is holding us back. This is why the Temazcal is a transformation ritual and, at the same time, a place where we go back to the very essence of our being, remembering who we are.

The Temazcal – or Mother Earth’s womb – represents the origin of everything, the centre of creation.
As the ancient teachings say, here we can be reborn.
When we enter the Temazcal, we return to that warm and sheltered womb, with the help of the 4 elements: Fire, which heats up the stones that are brought inside the hut; Water, source of all life, which we pour onto the hot stones and then receive through our body in the form of steam; Air – our very first breath – and that which drives the vibration of our voice; and Earth, which takes us in and embraces us.
One of the main purposes of the ceremony of the Temazcal is to be able to experience a fully conscious rebirth.
