Book Club #1: Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi

Welcome to the first gathering of Lit & Laughs: An African Book Club!

I'm so excited to kick things off by reading and discussing Transcendent Kingdom by Yaa Gyasi. Some of you may already be familiar with her popular debut, Homegoing.

As you read, feel free to jot down notes — or don't! — just whatever stands out to you. I'll also send out a list of discussion questions as we get closer to the date.

My vision for this book club is to rotate hosting among community members, with me hosting the kickoff! I'll share the location details once I have a better sense of how many people plan to join. Drinks and light snacks will be provided.

This should be a fun and meaningful opportunity to get back into reading and make new friends, some of whom may share cultural roots or experiences with you!
