Welcome to Lit & Laughs, a cozy book club celebrating African literature, connection, and community.
I moved to Portland a little while ago and found myself searching for a welcoming book club where people could gather to read African literature, hang out, and build new friendships. When I couldn't quite find one, I decided to create it myself!
This group is for people of African descent, or those who've lived on or have a meaningful connection to the continent, who want to gather in a welcoming, inclusive space to read, reflect, eat, gab, and laugh together.
Each month, we'll explore stories by African authors and voices from the Africa diaspora. But this is more than just a book club. It’s a place where friendships grow, cultures are celebrated, and everyone feels seen.
So whether you’re new in town, feeling like a cultural "other," or just craving meaningful conversation, pull up a chair.
