About the book:
Pachinko is a historical saga that spans four generations of a Zainichi Korean family living in Japan from 1910 to 1989. The story centers on Sunja Kim, who faces discrimination and abuse after Japan annexes Korea. The novel explores themes of family, identity, survival, and sacrifice, and depicts the immigrant struggle and racism faced by Koreans.

Critics Say:
Few novels have so completely transported me into another culture while also resonating so deeply with universal themes of love, sacrifice, and resilience. Pachinko is a masterpiece. (Jean Zimmerman, NPR)
