Butler Gulch Hike

Details
Heads up…the trail up to the saddle is super steep with loose rock. But we will take our time…because the views from the saddle are spectacular.
Difficulty: about 6 to 6.5 miles with about 1800+ feet elevation gain.
We hike as a group and hike at an average moving pace of about 2.5mph (slower up…faster down). Everyone is expected to wait at all intersections & periodically otherwise so that no one is left behind or hiking on their own for safety purposes. Hikes are always subject to date/time change or cancellation due to weather, trail conditions or closures, or other unforeseen circumstances.
HIKE DESCRIPTION: Let’s hike the Butler Gulch trail. There will be shade on the first half. The second half is above treeline with spectacular views of peaks and wildflowers all around in the summer. In addition, we will pass some old mining remnants. This lollipop Loop has a very steep section which we will hike up…hiking poles may be helpful. See the following hike in Alltrails: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/butler-gulch
DOGS: Allowed and must be under control at all times - see https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/arp/recarea/?recid=28504
Please be sure your dog is well behaved and can handle the length of the walk. Dog owners must clean up pet excrement.
ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the Butler Gulch Trailhead. To get to the Butler Gulch Trailhead, you can click on the alltrails link above and click directions. Or if you use Google maps, you can type in “Butler Gulch Trailhead” for directions.
We wait 5 minutes for late arrivals…but no longer as that is inconsiderate to those arriving timely. So please allow extra time to get to the trailhead.
