NOTE HIKE HAS CHANGED DUE TO MUDDY TRAILS.
Per an alltrails reviewer, Rawhide Trail is already getting muddy and she predicts it will be a muddy mess the next few days. So I am changing the hike. Instead we will go to Reynolds Park where I’m hoping trail conditions will be better. We will first do the Eagle’s View Trail. After that, those who are interested can join me on a loop hike that crosses the road where a recent reviewer said flowers are blooming including the barrel cactus.

Difficulty: If you do just the Eagles View Loop, it is about 4 to 4.5 miles and 1,000 feet elevation gain. If you continue with me on the Songbird, Chickadee Loop that crosses the road, the total hike is about 7.5 miles with about 1,500 to 1,600 feet elevation gain.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: We will start with the hike up to Eagle's View which is a steep trail with a big time payoff. The views from the top of the ridge and the Eagle's View Overlook are expansive and utterly fantastic. You'll be treated to views of many of the area's iconic rock formations and mountains, such as Cathedral Spires, Chair Rocks, Thunder Butte, and Pike's Peak out in the distance. Thereafter, we take the Songbird Trail across the road to Chickadee and the North Fork Trail which also has wonderful views and is a very sunny trail with wildflowers lining the trail. Recent alltrails photos show wildflowers blooming…including blooming barrel cactus. DOGS: Allowed on a leash. Please be sure your dog is well behaved and can handle the length of the walk. Dog owners must clean up pet excrement, per Jefferson County Open Space Regulations (https://www.jeffco.us/DocumentCenter/View/8982).

ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the Reynolds Park Trailhead parking lot.
