Picture Rock & Wild Turkey - Heil Valley Ranch FASTER PACE

This will be a faster paced hike, so please only sign up if you can hike at least 2.75- 3 mph moving pace.

Difficulty: about 15 miles with about 1,400 feet elevation gain.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: We’ve done this hike a couple times in the Spring and I enjoy it for a hike close to town…it’s more in the rolling hills as opposed to the mountains. We sometimes see lots of deer and there is an old car or two and some old structures on the trail. And just a nice rolling landscape. At the loop, we will go thru some of the burn area from the wildfire and to a nice overlook. If not too windy, we will take a break at the overlook…otherwise we will find a spot shortly after that for break…so bring snacks/lunch. DOGS: Dogs are 🚫 not allowed in Heil Valley Ranch due to wildlife concerns.

ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the Picture Rock Trailhead. To get there, you can click on the alltrails link above and click directions. Or if you use google maps, you can type in “Heil Valley Ranch - Picture Rock Trailhead” to get directions. If you use Apple Maps, you can type “Picture Rock Trailhead” for directions.

We wait 5 minutes for late arrivals…but no longer as that is inconsiderate to those arriving timely. So please allow extra time to get to the trailhead.

NO SHOWS: If you are a no-show to 2 hikes, you will be booted from this meetup group. So please change your RSVP to “not going” if you are unable to make it.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING: Water, snacks, layers of clothing, good hiking shoes/boots, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat, gloves, hiking poles (if you find them helpful), and anything else you deem essential. PLEASE ALSO BRING MICROSPIKES IN CASE WE NEED THEM!
