Forsythe Canyon TH to Waterfall & Gross Reservoir & Twin Sisters Peak

Details

So this is a new trail for me. And no…it does not go to Twin Sisters Peak in RMNP. It goes to a different Twin Sisters Peak. But views still look amazing. I understand the road leading to the Forsythe Canyon Trailhead may be difficult for 2WD vehicles. 4WD is recommended. Use Magnolia Road to get to the trailhead and you will have an easier time than if you take Lakeshore Road.

Difficulty: about 7 miles with about 1700-1800 feet elevation gain. This is a self-created trail so mileage and elevation gain are estimated.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: This pleasant tree-lined trail takes you to a small water and ends at the reservoir. Forsythe Creek tumbles over rocks, creating mini waterfalls and lovely sounds of rushing water. Although a vast majority of this trail is easy, the last bit near the waterfall is more moderate as you scramble rocks. From the reservoir, we will hike up to Twin Sisters Peak where we will have 360 views. A portion of the trail may be along a county road, but we will avoid the road as much as possible. This exact trail is not in alltrails, so here is a link to my self-made route in alltrails: https://www.alltrails.com/explore/map/map-may-20-2025-1eb590c?u=i&sh=ittjkn

DOGS ALLOWED IF FOLLOW PARK RULES: Allowed on a leash. Please be sure your dog is well behaved and can handle length of the walk. Dog owners must clean up pet excrement.
