Weather is looking great for both Thursday & Friday! So I’m going to schedule the hike for Friday…but if the weather changes and Thursday is clearly better, I will change the hike to Thursday. Recent reviews indicate microspikes may be needed.

We hike as a group and hike at an average moving pace of about 2.5mph. Everyone is expected to wait at all intersections & periodically otherwise so that no one is left behind or hiking on their own for safety purposes. We will plan to take a break at the top…assuming weather conditions are good.

DIFFICULTY: about 8 miles with about 2,500 feet elevation gain.

HIKE DESCRIPTION: The Twin Sisters Peaks are located on the eastern edge of RMNP. The trail starts by climbing through a lodgepole pine forest and it doesn't stop going up until the summit. As we gain altitude the views get better and better. There are cliffs and interesting rock formations along the way up. Once we break treeline, the views open up and the terrain becomes rocky and rugged…however, the trail is well worn. Reaching the summit requires an additional rock scramble up a short trail. From the summit there are panoramic views of the eastern plains, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Longs Peak. From the western peak the view of Longs Peak is indescribable. This might just be the best view of Longs available. After we break at 11,000+ feet, we will head back the way we came. We will do the following hike in alltrails: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/colorado/twin-sisters-peak-trail

DOGS: 🚫 not allowed.

ADDRESS/DIRECTIONS: We will meet at the first trailhead right off CO-7/ S St. Vrain Ave to the East…across the road from Lily Lake. To get there, you can click on the alltrails link above and click directions. Look for my blue Subaru Outback.

We wait 5 minutes for late arrivals…but no longer as that is inconsiderate to those arriving timely. So please allow extra time to get to the trailhead.
