Timber🌲Trail to Arthur’s Rock 🪨 Loop Hike - Lory State Park
Details
DIFFICULTY: about 9 miles with about 1,800 feet elevation gain. This is a self-created trail so actual mileage and elevation gain could be a little different.
We hike as a group at a moving pace of about 2.5 mph. Although the group may split up due to different hiking paces, everyone is expected to wait at all intersections, creek crossings & periodically otherwise so that we can regroup and so no one is left behind or hiking on their own for safety purposes.
FEE: If you do not have an annual Colorado state parks pass, there is a $10 fee for a day pass.
HIKE DESCRIPTION: Arthur's Rock is a formation of pegmatite granite that bulges out of the rolling foothills on Colorado's Front Range. The hike ascends to panoramic views of Fort Collins and Horsetooth Reservoir and the wide expanse of the Great Plains beyond. At Arthur’s Rock, we can ascend a short and easy 50-foot scramble to soak in the best views. On the way back, we will hike the trails along Horsetooth Reservoir and take the side trails down to the water.
