Liveable Kirkland + Build The Damn Trains
Details
We'll have a special guest this week - Holden Ringer, from Transportation Choices Coalition - to talk about the Build The Damn Trains campaign! Sound Transit is nearing completion of the Light Rail service promised by the ST2 ballot measure, and preparing for design and construction of ST3 projects (serving Ballard, West Seattle, Tacoma, Everett, South Kirkland, and Issaquah). At the same time, Sound Transit is facing a massive budget crunch. Advocacy is needed to ensure Sound Transit doesn't delay or shrink service.
What is Transportation Choices Coalition?
It is a statewide policy and advocacy nonprofit dedicated to bringing Washingtonians more and better transportation choices. When our transportation system works for everyone, we all thrive. All Washingtonians deserve to be able to get where they need to go—and they should be able to walk, bike, or take transit to get there.
What is Liveable Kirkland?
We believe that anyone who spends their days around Kirkland should also be able to call Kirkland their home. Join us to collaboratively explore how we can realize this vision while improving quality of life for all.
We are especially interested in homes for everyone, complete communities, and efficient transportation.
We host about a dozen meetups per month, including social, volunteer, education, and local advocacy opportunities.
See our site at www.liveablekirkland.org.
