Project: Assemble Bed Warmers for Tent City Residents
Mon, Feb 2, 6-8pm
Chainline Brewing at Kirkland Urban
At this special edition of our regular Monday Meetups, we'll begin by assembling 35+ microwaveable, re-useable bed warmers for Camp United We Stand. We'll add a mixture of whole feed corn and coffee beans to new socks and then tie them closed.
The residents of the tent encampment (which is currently in a church parking lot in Woodinville) will put each bed-warmer in one of the camp's two microwaves for a few minutes and then put them into their sleeping bags to pre-warm their beds each evening. It's very hard on the tent residents' health to have to warm up a cold sleeping bag and mattress each night with only their own body heat. The camp's organizers have requested these reusable warmers and suggested adding coffee beans to the mix to give the bed-warmers a pleasant aroma. When not in use, the socks will be stored in metal filing cabinets to deter animals from chewing on them.
After assembling these bed warmers (and possibly some whistle kits), we'll have our usual socializing to discuss local events and issues.
Drop in and bring friends, family, and neighbors! Okay to bring kids and food, too.

What is Liveable Kirkland?
We believe that anyone who spends their days around Kirkland should also be able to call Kirkland their home. Join us to collaboratively explore how we can realize this vision while improving quality of life for all.
We are especially interested in homes for everyone, complete communities, and efficient transportation.
We host about a dozen meetups per month, including social, volunteer, education, and local advocacy opportunities.
