Two good bands will each be playing one-hour sets at this popular Point Richmond event, voted "best outdoor music festival" by Best of the East Bay.

Wreckless Strangers (which draws on an eclectic mix of blues, soul, funk, R&B and more) will perform from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. They will be followed, at 6:45 p.m., by Aki Kumar and his band, with their well-known brand of harmonica-driven, Bollywood-infused blues.

COST: I ask that Meetup attendees donate $1.00 to offset the $180.00 per year that Meetup charges me as lead organizer. Other than that, the concert is free to attend.

SEATING is limited and goes fast, according to what past festival-goers have told me. Your best bet is to get there early and/or bring your own low-backed chair.

WHEN/WHERE TO MEET: Aim to meet by 5:00 p.m. near the stage, which is located at the crossroads of Washington Avenue and Park Place in downtown Point Richmond.

PARKING ADVISORY: On the day of the event, Park Place is blocked off, and any cars parked there after 3pm will be towed, according to festival organizers, who say there is ample parking on Railroad Avenue and on East Richmond, across from the elementary school.

ADDED PARKING NOTE: If looking for Railroad Avenue (for possible parking), FYI that it appears (from the Festival map and Google Maps) to be parallel to Washington Avenue. (It looks to me as though Washington is on one side of the stage area, and Railroad Avenue is on the other side.)

MASS TRANSIT: Take an AC Transit bus line from Richmond BART to the festival neighborhood. I believe the 72M is the bus to take, but I'll doublecheck that prior to the event date.

If you're driving, rather than taking mass transit, I strongly recommend allowing extra time due to rush-hour traffic and Friday traffic going to Lake Tahoe!

HOW TO FIND ME: I'm WF, about 5 feet tall, with glasses and short, salt-and-pepper hair. (See my photo with my Meetup profile.) I'll send my mobile number to RSVPers prior to the event, so feel free to text me if you don't spot me.
