What we’re about
Liverpool Humanists brings non-religious people together to live happier and more fulfilled lives and to be a force for good in our community.
Humanists are people who shape their own lives in the here and now, because we believe this is the only life we have. We make sense of the world through logic, reason, and evidence, and always seek to treat those around us with warmth, understanding, care, respect and responsibility.
We organise events and activities of interest, with the aim of encouraging better understanding of humanism, and cultivating a network of support for fellow humanists. We offer a safe space in which to talk and share experiences - whether people have moved away from their religious faith or never had any in the first place.
We are a diverse group, and we have new members regularly joining - so do come along and get involved!

The British Science Festival is Europe’s longest standing science Festival, travelling to a different location in the United Kingdom each year. This year's event will take place at various venues in Liverpool between 10-14 September 2025. Liverpool Humanists will be attending the Bluecoat as a group on 13th September to hear the talk entitled Searching for Science’s Invisible Women where Greg Lynall of Liverpool University will reveal women’s contributions to some of science’s big moments, which for too long have been undocumented, obscured, dismissed or even ridiculed.
Reserve your free tickets for the talk here.
We'd love you to join us both for the talk and, afterwards, for refreshment and a chat in St Peter's Tavern - a former church now gratifyingly converted into a grand public house!
The full Festival programme for 2025 can be found here

- Walk, Talk and Fork: Crosby to WaterlooHall Road East Train Station Blundellsands L23, Blundellsands
We invite you to meet friends old and new, and enjoy a Sunday morning stroll along the coast from Crosby to Waterloo, taking in Anthony Gormley's Iron Men statues at Another Place.
We will meet at Hall Road Station car park (on the Northern Line, just after Blundellsands) at 11:00am.
We will walk the short distance to the Crosby Beach RNLI Lifeguard Station, then continue to walk along the coastal path and beach past the whole length of Anthony Gormley's Iron Men statues.
Finishing at the lake in Waterloo, at 12.45, we will enjoy lunch together at The Lake House Restaurant.
Afterwards, travel back from nearby Waterloo station.
Wear clothes suitable for the weather. If it is really bad, we can just meet at The Lake House at 12.45 for lunch. To go direct to the Lakehouse, use Waterloo Station or the Lakeside car park.
Whether you're humanist, humanist-friendly, just curious or even skeptical, you'll be made very welcome. We do hope you'll join us!
