Howdy everyone.
As some of you will be aware, hosting Meetup comes with a fee. This is currently £300 per year and so far has been paid for kindly by the group's organiser.
To keep the group sustainable amid rising costs, we are implementing a donation scheme in an attempt to avoid having to apply a flat annual membership.
We know our regulars are as passionate about the meetup as we are, and we hope our newer members will be inspired to support us too!
So as a trial, we are asking for donations (donate what you can with a minimum of £1 and a maximum of £20). It may become a ritual where we ask people to donate regularly after an event.
Additionally, there are further costs to consider, for example, coals and firelighters were recently bought for a barbeque and the hosts that bought them have no way of being reimbursed.
There are many ways we could go about this however this is our first attempt.
If we reach our goal to cover the Meetup annual fees and overshoot it, we will donate to an animal sanctuary so please do not think that we are aiming to make a profit here. We will also be totally transparent with how much we have accumulated.
