Weave & Spin Performance Series and Open Mic

Please join us Wednesday, October 15th at Eno House in Hillsborough, NC for “Weave & Spin,” a performance and open mic series curated and hosted by poet Morrow Dowdle, focused on voices that have waited too long to be heard. Performance begins at 7:00 p.m., followed by an open mic. Free admission. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for open mic sign-up. Must be 18 and older to enter and perform.

Fred L. Joiner is a poet and curator based in Carrboro, NC. His most recent book of poetry is The Mirror in Our Music, forthcoming in 2025 from Birds LLC. His work has been published in various journals, anthologies, art catalogs, and he has presented his work nationally and internationally. Joiner recently served as the Poet Laureate of Carrboro, was awarded a 2019 Academy of American Poets Laureate Fellowship, and has received awards, fellowships, and residences from the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African Art, the DC Commission on the Arts & Humanities, and St Mary's College of Maryland. He is also the founder of Black Ekphrastic, a website highlighting the work of Black creative writers and their engagements with other art forms. Joiner serves on the board of directors for the Southwest Renaissance Development Corporation and the Orange County Arts Alliance.
Joan Barasovska lives in Orange County. She is an officer of the North Carolina Poetry Society and hosts a monthly poetry series at independent bookstore McIntyre’s Books. Joan has been nominated for Best of the Net and four times for a Pushcart Prize. Her books have been reviewed in Pedestal Magazine, Big City Lit, North Carolina Literary Review, and The Main Street Rag. She is the author of Birthing Age, Carrying Clare, Orange Tulips, and Unblessed, Unsung, from Main Street Rag this year.
