Living in Space: Poonam Josan, plus Space Cooperative
Living in Space is an ongoing series of events sponsored by Innovate Pasadena (www.innovatepasadena.org) and organized by Space Cooperative (www.space.coop) to encourage cross-pollination of ideas amongst designers, engineers, artists and thinkers that are interested in all aspects of becoming a spacefaring civilization. Our next event is Saturday, October 27th. Poonam Josan and Space Cooperative will be joining us. Poonam Josan is an Aerospace Engineer with a passion for human space exploration. She is currently expanding her research skills in Bioastronautics domain. Her educational credentials include an undergraduate degree in Aerospace Engineering from SRM University, India and a master’s degree in Space Studies from the University of North Dakota. For her UG years, she designed and tested small aerospike rocket nozzles to enhance thrust efficiency of micro-propulsion devices. Her graduate research work focused on incorporating wearable haptic technologies in planetary spacesuits in order to mitigate the effects of hypogravity planetary environment on human vestibular systems. She has diverse experience in Analogue space missions as a mission controller as well as an analogue astronaut. She has worked with multinational crew to address the human factors challenges of long duration human spaceflight, by simulating near-realistic operational mission scenarios. During these missions, she researched the effects of absence of extra-vehicular activities and sunlight on crew's mood and circadian rhythms, and worked on several other science experiments. Poonam is a strong advocate of human space exploration, and a firm believer of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics). Apart from space exploration, she enjoys long distance hiking, travelling, and learning about modern history. https://www.linkedin.com/in/poonampreet-kaur-josan/ CONTRIBUTE TO THIS MEETUP Do you like these Living in Space meetups?
