Virtual DragonPyMeetup May 2021

Details

Hello, fellow Pythonistas!

We are very happy to announce our meetup is finally making a comeback after a short hiatus. We promise to make it worth the wait!

The link to the Zoom meeting will be sent to all attendees about an hour before the meetup - RSVP at least an hour before the event in order to get the link.

Talks:

• Jure Čuhalev: Automating Google Sheets with Python (gspread library use cases)

Google Sheets provides us with tabular data interface for business users. By using Python's gspread (https://gspread.readthedocs.io/en/latest/) library we can both read from and write to it. In this talk I'll present how it integrates with Pandas, and how we can build better business processes by leveraging Google Sheets' built-in data validation features.

Jure Čuhalev builds web applications that help businesses be more productive. He shares his tips and insights at https://www.jurecuhalev.com/blog/

• Alan Una Larisa: Django-mockingbird - Unit testing Django applications without touching the database doesn't have to suck

Writing a comprehensive test suite for a Django app usually means either making a bunch of test objects in the database or using unittest to mock (https://docs.python.org/3/library/unittest.mock.html) all the database queries. This seemed tedious and ineffective, so I wrote a library to help with that. In this talk I will present why and how to use it to make your tests as fast and simple as possible.

Check out the library here: https://github.com/larsvonschaff/Django-mockingbird

See you soon!
