Talks:

◼︎ Jakob Povšič : Self-Sovereign identity

Imagine you went for a drink, and had to give the bartender a copy of your passport. No one would let a random bar hold copies of their sensitive data. It’s a clear invasion of privacy and a liability for identity theft. So why do we let websites do it? Is there no better way, other than to let websites have access to our sensitive data and hope it won’t get stolen or sold?

The “Self-Sovereign Identity” (SSI) space aims to redefine digital identities.
Instead of users interfacing with siloed identities, they should be the owners of their digital identities and should control who they interact and share personal data with.

◼︎ Nejc Zupan: Project isolation beyond requirements.txt (postponed until next month!)

I’ve been a Python dev for almost 15 years now and I’ve recently completely overhauled how I keep my development tools and dependencies in check. I’m so happy with my new setup that I couldn’t wait to share it with fellow geeks!

Lightning talk:

◼︎ Domagoj Korais: I/O operations on AWS: How to effectively train a deep learning model when data doesn't fit in RAM.

Let's dive into AWS storage solutions to optimize the training procedure of a deep learning model when the training data is too big to fit in memory. It looks like a trivial task, but AWS infrastructure has many caveats and it's easy to get lost when trying to maximize performance.

◼︎ Jure Čuhalev: Using Ice Cream instead of `print()`

I'll show you why using icecream library - https://github.com/gruns/icecream provides for a better Developer Experience (DX) compared to `print()` and `pprint()`.
