Talk:
Benjamin Fele: Generative adversarial networks and their applications using PyTorch
The talk will be centered around generative adversarial networks (GANs), a neural network framework that led to large advancements in image generation in recent years. Concretely, the talk will introduce basic terminology, go through the general framework followed by a case study entailing their application within the @flat_gaze project. A brief introduction to the Python deep learning library PyTorch will be also made, concluded by code samples used in the project.
Benjamin Fele is a PhD student at Faculty of Computer and Information Science at University of Ljubljana and works as a Young Researcher at Jozef Stefan Institute. In his career, he gained experience in different fields of machine learning; from cognitive modelling at University of Bratislava and meta-learning at UC Berkeley to virtual try-on at Faculty of Electrical Engineering, University of Ljubljana. He is currently researching algorithmic curriculum generation for robotic motor learning and has a recent history of involvement in multiple projects in collaboration with Kapelica gallery and osmo/za.
