DragonPy meetup January 2024

Details
Hello, fellow Pythonistas, we're back at last!
This time we are collaborating with United.cloud, who kindly offered to host us in their offices. We have three talks prepared for you, and after that it's business as usual: drinks, snacks and a hangout. Join us on the 18th of January in Situla!

Talks:
Aljaž Košmerlj : Pardon my Python
Aljaž will talk about setting up a Python environment and workflows in a non-Python company. We'll take a look at the issues we are encountering when doing this at United Cloud, the current approach to solving them and finish up with a Q&A.
David Klasinc: From P to P – The different kind of p2p
David will talk about The untold story of replacing a PHP based CMS with something cobbled up in Python. Why PHP was good enough for some time, why it suddenly failed, how are we planning to replace it with Python, and why it will work better.
Blaž Dobravec: Python and energetics
Blaž will talk about how a Research and Development department in Elektro Gorenjska, a distribution system operator, uses Python in their prototyping process. The department mainly focuses on development and introduction of novel (mainly IT and data science related) technologies to the energy sector. At the moment they do not (yet) produce market ready products, they mainly focus on providing business value to the company by optimising and automating the internal processes. They mainly work with mathematical modelling and simulations of energy network operations, as well as development of machine learning models for forecasting and detection of elements (heat pumps, electric vehicles) and faults in the network.
