Looking for a few happy hikers to do some real trail blazing with me. This will be an exploratory off-trail hike starting in upper Zuma and along the eastern ridge of Zuma Canyon. The goal will be to connect the backbone trail with the Zuma Edison Rd and hence lower Zuma Canyon. Aerial photos indicate a good chance of succeeding without much bushwhacking

Mileage and elevation gain: Unknown but nothing extreme

Class 1.5 rock climbing at the most (at least for me)

Experience hikers only

You know what to wear and bring. If you don't you shouldn't be on this hike

Directions

The trailhead parking lot is on Kanan-Dume Rd, north side ot T1

From the Ventura Freeway 101: go south (toward beaches) on Kanan Road about 7.8 miles to just before the "third tunnel" (T1). The parking lot is on the right (west side of what is now Kanan-Dume Road) and easy to spot.

From Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu: go north on Kanan Dume Road about 4.3 miles, just through the "first tunnel," and make a left turn into the parking lot on the west side of Kanan Dume.
