With two waterfalls, scenic volcanic outcroppings, a variety of hiking trails, several pleasant picnic areas, and abundant open space, Wildwood Park is a great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the nearby city.

About Wildwood Fort: Built in 1967 it was torn down in 2009 as an "attractive nuisance." If you were a kid growing up in TO it was paradise

For a bit of history visit the HWD Facebook page:

To get there we'll have to climb these steps -- there are 76 of them

Here is a creek fed by Paradise Falls. There will be a couple of creek crossings on this hike. We might get our feet wet on one of them -- you've been warned!

Snack time at Skunk Hollow

(Note: I don't have an exact route planned yet but hike is estimated to be a 9 mile loop with around 2,000' total ascent).

Note: We are not meeting in the usual Wildwood parking lot

Take either Lynn Rd or the 23 to Avenida de los Arboles. Turn west and drive (0.6 miles from Lynn Rd) to the Wildflower Playfield. Park in one of the lots. See INTERACTIVE MAP for options. We are meeting in the western most lot near basketball court, aka Lot 1 (

Residential parking: There is street parking on Frontier Ave. It appears there is an easement into the park from the Bright Star St cul-de-sac - very convenient if true
