We're 12 years old! Let's celebrate with a hike into Red Rock Canyon and Zuniga Pond, and picnic in secluded Red Rock Canyon Park.
Hike will be 4-6 miles with about 500' - 1,000' total ascent and suitable for fit (and adventurous) beginners. A couple sections may be too strenuous for beginners. Do your best - there are easy turnaround points

Bring food and drink to share. I'll bring the table covers, cups, napkins, paper plates and flatware -- and a bottle of white wine.
Post the kind of food you are bringing in comment section below
If you park in the Park, leave everything in the car until our return. If you park outside on Old Topanga its a 0.8 mile walk in -- walk your stuff in and you can leave it in my car or another's car.
Directions to the Park
Parking is $5.00 inside the park. Bring exact change for Iron Ranger. There is free parking on Old Topanga at Red Rock Rd. From there its a scenic 0.8 mile walk (or drive) to the park; 0.2 mi of this road is dirt and unmaintained. Be sure to arrive early enough

Perhaps some parking outside can shuttle the free parkers into park. Trucks would come in handy here.
Be early! This sounds like a self-contradiction but if you arrive on time you will be late!
Plan to arrive at least a half hour early. This will give you time to walk the 0.8 miles to the pay parking lot. The lot is small so those that are planning to pay for parking may have to drive back to Old Topanga anyway.
From the Valley/405: take Highway 101 west and exit Topanga Canyon Blvd South in Woodland Hills and head south one mile to Mulholland Drive and turn right. Then turn left on Mulholland Highway and head west 2.2 miles to Old Topanga Canyon Road. Make a left on Old Topanga. Head 3.6 miles south, then turn right on Red Rock Canyon Road....
From Thousand Oaks take 101 east and exit Valley Circle/Mulholland Dr. Use the middle lane to turn left on Calabasas Rd, then right on Mulholland Dr for 0.5 mile. Turn right on Valmar for 0.4 mi, then veer right onto Mulholland Hwy 0.2 mi. Turn left on Old Topanga for 3.8 miles to Red Rock Rd and turn right....
From PCH travel north on Topanga Canyon 4.3 miles. Turn left at Old Topanga Canyon Rd for 1.8 miles to Red Rock Road then turn left....
....Continue past all of the βresidents onlyβ parking and βno trespassingβ signs until the road ends at the park.
