Ahmanson Ranch/Lasky Mesa via El Escorpion

While this may be a familiar hike to many, perhaps not all are familiar with the Vanowen trailhead. We'll take a lunch at the ranch house.

Hike is 6-7 miles with mild elevation gain. A good hike for fit beginners. Bring 2 qts water, snacks or lunch, hiking shoes (sturdy sneakers ok)

Directions: Go to the west end of Vanowen St and park on street

From the 101 freeway exit Valley Circle Boulevard. Head north to Vanowen St. Turn left. Park on street near the end of Vanowen (before the curve)

Along the way we will view Castle Peak and caves the Chumash used to prepare their dead for burial.
