Mesa Peak Motorway to Corral Canyon
Details
This 10 - 12 mile hike begins at the Backbone Trailhead on Malibu Canyon and proceeds along the southern rim of Malibu Creek State Park. After about 5 - 6 miles we reach Corral Canyon and turnaround. Highlights include ocean views, Mesa Peak and ground zero for the last Malibu fire. Elevation gain is about 1700 ft.
Bring food, water, camera.
Trailhead parking is on west side of Malibu Canyon/Las Virgenes a few yards south of Piuma Rd
From the 101
Get off at the Las Virgenes and go south approximately 5 miles to the trailhead parking lot just past Piuma Rd. Turn right into parking lot. (Las Virgenes Rd becomes Malibu Canyon Rd at Piuma)
From PCH
Take Malibu Cyn Rd north around 4.5 miles and just before Piuma light turn left into parking lot
Parking in lot is $5.00 exact change. There is free parking on the dirt patch on the southeast corner of Piuma and Las Virgenes. Be carefull crossing the road.
