Casual Bike Trip to the National Park
Details
We’re escaping the city concrete and taking a scenic cruise toward the coastal dunes of Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen and Nationaal Park Zuid-Kennemerland.
This isn't a high-speed peloton training session, so leave the aerodynamic racing gear at home. A standard city bike or Swapfiets is completely fine, as long as your tires have air and your brakes work.
The Game Plan:
- The Route: the whole route is around 45-50 km. We’ll cruise at a relaxed, conversational pace with some stops to stretch and recharge, including a lunch break along the route
- The Wildlife: we can expect to encounter plenty of wild fallow deer roaming right past the paths, fluffy Scottish Highland cattle, Konik horses, and if we're lucky even a dune fox or a European bison.
- What to bring: water, sunscreen, some snacks, and comfortable layers. I know high heels may be very tempting to put on for the cycling trip, but it may be better to wear shoes you can actually walk in through the dunes.
- Weather: as much as global warming is helping us, we still have some way to go before we become a tropical destination🌴🥥 so be ready for a bit of rain. In case of a really bad forecast, we'll have to postpone the trip🤷♂️
Inflate your tires, clear your afternoon, and come trade city traffic for dune breezes and wandering deer.
See you on the bike path! 🚲🦌🌲
