River Cleanup Moke River - Hatchery to Stillman Magee

Details

Time to start clearing the Moke of debris and blowouts left behind by adventurous paddlers that have crashed and burned on the Fish Hatchery Run.
This event is for paddlers who can navigate fast water flows and large tree debris in the water trail. Currents will be obvious and must be approached with care/skill. Instructions will be given for safe navigation.
Meet at the Stillman Magee Parking Lot on Mackville Rd. We will be there in the middle of the lot to prepare shuttle vehicles to get the boats up to the launch at the Moke Fish Hatchery Lot A. (Van Assen Launch Gate)
We will leave a couple of vehicles at Stillman Magee to return paddlers to their vehicles parked at the launch area. Parking is $5 at the park lot.
Water flows will be fluctuating between 350 CF/s and 1500 CF/s.
Flows over 1500 CF/s will be cancelled as the launch area will be closed.
Dress for immersion, no cotton clothing. Dry gear recommended as we will be in and out of our boats collecting trash and broken river toys. Bring mesh haulout bags for collection of the finds. Bags should be able to tie on the boat or go in a hatch. Reach extenders are useful for gathering bottle and cans in the water and on the immediate shore.
The river trail is clear (as of 1-1-25) except for the one large log collection about 3.5 miles downstream. (Easily navigated around)
Some turns may be shallow until the flows reach 800 CF/s or more.
Bring water/coffee and snacks if you need them. There are a couple of areas we can land to rest.
We usually stop at Coyote Mexican Food after the run for eats and great ice tea, (good Beer, too)
