For Basic Wilderness First Aid: Saturday ONLY. 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
For Full Wilderness First Aid: Saturday and Sunday 8:00AM to 5:00 PM

Wilderness First Aid is a practical course that prepares you to recognize and avoid wilderness hazards, and do first aid outdoors with whatever equipment you have or can improvise.

This course provides Wilderness First Aid Certification by the National Association for Search and Rescue. To be certified you must:
Participate in the entire class;
Demonstrate the skills during class practice sessions.

Two options:
1 day: Basic Wilderness First Aid (Saturday only) – satisfies First Aid requirements for level 1 leaders (day hikes). ($50/$60)

2 days: Wilderness First Aid (Saturday & Sunday) – satisfies First Aid requirements for level 2 leaders (overnight, backcountry) ($80/$100)
Cost:
Basic Wilderness First Aid: $50 for Sierra Club members; $60 for non-members.
Wilderness First Aid: $80 for Sierra Club members; $100 for non-members.

Instructor: Steve is program author and instructor trainer for the WEC courses he developed for the National Association for Search and Rescue, which publishes his textbooks. He has also published many articles on emergency care and how to teach it; developed and run several other emergency care education programs; and been an Outdoor Emergency Care instructor for the National Ski Patrol since the beginning of the OEC program in 1988.

Also bring lunch, water, outdoor equipment that could be used to improvise splints, and writing materials.

You can use an old edition of Steve’s Wilderness Emergency Care if you have it, but the new edition is greatly revised, updated, and expanded. It includes everything that we teach up to the Wilderness EMT level. Steve’s Wilderness First Aid book includes just what we teach in the WFA class.
