Who's doing Inktober this year? (And can you believe it's already that time of year???)

I found a tiny stone-paper notebook from 2017 (fits in my palm!) with a few old Inktober sketches inside - so we’re bringing the tradition back, simple and small.

Format: one sketch, approximately 20 minutes, every morning at 10:00 AM EDT. Come as you are. Cameras on or off, chatty or totally silent - either vibe is welcome. Note: you're free to sketch for just 5 minutes if that's all the time you have, or for an hour or two if that's your thing.

🖌️ How to Join

  1. Register on Eventbrite to save your spot.
  2. You’ll get a confirmation email with the Zoom link.
  3. At 10:00 AM EDT each day, click the link, grab your pen, and sketch with us for ~20 minutes.

Prompts: I'm sharing the official 2025 Inktober prompts (bring your own list if you prefer), but I probably will just do random sketches in my sketchbook - I am not a huge fan of lists myself. One year I drew only frogs, another year was me copying cartoons I loved. You do you! The point here is to get in the habit of drawing something daily.

Not feeling the official prompts? Pick from any of the October prompt lists floating around on the interwebs: here are some popular “-tober” options to spark ideas:

  • Drawtober (general illustration prompts)
  • Witchtober (witchy themes & familiars)
  • Spooktober / Monstober (ghosts, creatures, Halloween vibes)
  • Peachtober (wholesome, everyday objects/words)
  • OCtober (your original characters)
  • Birdtober / Botober (birds or robots all month)
  • Plantober (plants & botanicals)
  • Artober / Promptober (catch-all daily cues)
  • Flufftober (horror prompts (yeah, go figure)
  • Inktober52 (weekly prompts if you want a gentler pace)

How it works (super simple):

  • We start on time, set a 20-minute timer, and draw.
  • I may occasionally show the tiny notebook for fun nostalgia, but the goal is progress, not polish, and definitely not competition!
  • Share your result after:
  • Upload to the Inktober 2025 album in this Meetup group, or
  • Post on Instagram (#inktober #inktober2025) and tag our IG page (@sketchsomethingtoday and also #sketchsomethingtoday) so we can reshare.
  • Sign up for the SketchSomethingToday newsletter (unsubscribe at any time)

What to bring: pen/marker you like, a sketchbook (any size!), and your prompt/reference pic of the day. That’s it.

This is about showing up, not perfection. 20 minutes, one page, done. See you at 10!
