More details on the talk:

The Only Way is Ethics: The Moral Foundations of Capitalism and Why Ayn Rand Rejected Anarchism and Libertarianism.

Our speaker Adam Smith, founder of the British Objectivist Society, will outline Ayn Rand's ethics, the facts on which it is founded, and how Objectivist ethics forms the foundation of her political theory of Capitalism. He will argue that alternative political theories, including Anarchism and Libertarianism, derive from non-objective ethics, with serious consequences.

Background on Adam Smith:

Adam J. Smith has an MA in philosophy from Birkbeck College, London, an MSc in Ecology from the University of Aberdeen, and a degree in Biology from the University of Leicester, and a PGCE from Brunel. He also completed the Undergraduate Philosophy of Ayn Rand course (UPAR) with the Objectivist Graduate Center (Now the OAC). He spent five years as a teacher in Tokyo, Japan, and six years in the pharmaceutical industry in various roles from lab research to business development. He spent seven years to the end of 2012, teaching sciences at Bradfield College in Berkshire, and is now self-employed in teaching, writing and consultancy. He founded and runs the British Objectivist Society to facilitate communication between people with a strong academic interest in Ayn Rand’s philosophy.

Join us for his seminal talk on September 10th at The Lamb pub in Bloomsbury, 94 Lambs Conduit Street WC1N 3LZ.
