Poem Workshop: Exploring Chinese Textures
Details
Dear everyone,
I have to say, the energy in our group chat today was absolutely electric.
For those who tuned in, you saw us traversing from Liu Zongyuan’s frozen river (River Snow) to Ungaretti’s Italian autumn, and somehow landing on Monty Python’s take on Roman history.
This kind of spontaneous, cross-cultural "intellectual jazz" is exactly why this community exists. It reminded me of a Borges story—infinite paths and unexpected mirrors connecting us all.
However, a WhatsApp group can only hold so much depth.
I want to invite ALL of you—whether you were active in the chat today or just observing—to bring your unique perspectives to SOAS for an in-person dialogue.
We will explore the concepts of "Negative Space" in art, the architecture of solitude, and the cultural bridges between East and West. You do not need to be an expert in poetry; you just need to bring your curiosity.
Event Details:
- Topic: River Snow: A Cross-Cultural Dialogue
- Time: 3:00 PM – 5:00 PM, 06/12/25
- Location: Room 102, 10 Thornhaugh St, London WC1H 0XG (SOAS)
I look forward to seeing familiar faces and hearing new voices.
Warmly,
Jiaxin
