Early Christian Documents: Letters of Ignatius and Polycarp

Details
For the rest of September, we will read some shorter writings that can be read in a single meeting. So, if you are curious and want to come see what we are about, then now is a good time to drop by 2C at the Central Library @ 2pm on Saturdays.
Today, we will read some of the earliest extant Christian documents outside the New Testament. We'll continue with the Letters of Ignatius (select Roberts-Donaldson for consistency) which were written ca. 105-115 AD. If there is time, we'll read Polycarp's Letter to the Philippians These documents are available for free at Early Christian Writings.
In October, we will begin reading Spiritual Friendship by Aelred of Rievaulx. While we read aloud together, feel free to read in advance if it helps you process and understand the information and prepares you to engage in conversation.
The book links are Amazon Associate links and the commissions help me pay for the Meetup membership and support me in my efforts to encourage Christian theological education. Or if you want to support me, you can Buy Me a Book (or a Coffee).

Every week on Saturday until October 3, 2025
