...
Is it really still possible to start a successful blog, and how are the challenges today different to five or ten years ago? Alex Trembath, co-founder of the startup travel blog Career Gappers (https://careergappers.com/), will explore these questions in an exciting talk at our next event.
In summer 2018, Alex and his wife Lisa launched a new blogging business after returning from a year of travelling the world on a one-year career break. Inspired by their own experience, they wanted to help make it possible for other people to take transformational travel career breaks.
One year on, the blog’s website traffic has steadily grown to over 15,000 monthly page views, and it has started to generate income from affiliate marketing and various other means. During this time, Career Gappers has been featured on BBC Radio as well as international travel platforms such as the Matador Network, BootsnAll and BudgetYourTrip.
ABOUT THE TALK
In this insightful talk, Alex will discuss:
- How the blog achieved rapid growth to five-figure monthly website traffic
- The strategies being implemented to monetise Career Gappers
- The biggest challenges he and Lisa have faced in starting a new blogging business in 2018/19
- Lifestyle impact: the trouble with working on your own, and the quest to find the right work-life balance as a startup founder
- The plans for the future growth of Career Gappers
ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Alex has worked in senior communications, marketing and editorial roles for over ten years. He has led communications campaigns that have been shortlisted for major national awards at two different non-profit membership organisations.
A lifelong travel enthusiast, Alex has visited over 50 countries. He quit his London-based job in June 2017 for a year of travel, and now resides in Lincoln.
