Details

Watching British films is a great way to learn English and to discover more about British culture, and discussing the issues raised in films is also a good way to practise English conversation.

Let's see the Ken Loach film The Old Oak at Riverside Studios, Hammersmith. Ken Loach is a famous British film director who is known for producing hard-hitting social dramas.

The film is set in 2016 in a village of Northeast England (near Durham). The future looks bleak for the last remaining pub, The Old Oak. People have been leaving since the coal mines closed down. Houses are cheap and available. A family of Syrian refugees arrives. How will the locals react to them?

The meeting time/place is 7:45pm at one of the tables inside Riverside Studios, 101 Queen Caroline St, London W6 9BN.
It is 5-10 minutes' walk from the Tube station Hammersmith.
I will be wearing an orange scarf or T-shirt. My mobile number is 07984 257572.

The film starts at about 8:10pm.

I have pre-booked 4 tickets (H13-H16) - if one of these places is still available you can buy one from me for Β£10 - otherwise you can get one at the box office for Β£13.

The film will finish at about 10pm.
