Free Hike! Seven Sisters: Eastbourne to Seaford

Details

The “Seven Sisters” are a series of seven hills(like those of Rome) located inside a long cliff undulating white chalk that faces
English channel. Their name comes from a legend according to which seven sisters lived on these limestone formations, each of which had a house between these hills that, put together, make up the c.d.“Seven Sisters Country Park”, located within the larger South Down National Park.

A moderate/tough 12 mile [6-7/10] coastal walk from Eastbourne to Seaford. Well worth the effort for the superb views along the way.

We will start at Eastbourne as the trains are better... Enroute you will see the classic view of the Seven Sisters and the famous cottages. We will stop at the Seven Sisters Visitor Centre for a short refueling stop before we launch ourselves onto the 7 Sisters which lie between Cuckmere Haven and Birling Gap. You will be rewarded by lunch at Birling Gap. It's then only 5.5 miles back to Seaford.

Please bring your own picnic food as cafes en route get very busy & queues will be long.

Well-deserved pub at the end!

The 12/12X Coastliner bus runs the length of the walk and this can be used to make the route shorter if needed.

09.39 Train from London BRIDGE. Cheap day return to Eastbourne is the one to buy!

PS - the keen eyed ones will have noted that i've made the walk a bit easier, a slightly different route and also avoids trying to cross Cuckmere river at high water.
