Another event of our regular country evening series, but this time with a different focus.
The evening will concentrate on the relations between the UK and the EU, starting with the European Coal and Steel Community created in 1952 followed by the European Economic Community and European Community.
We will try to establish the historic reasons why the UK aimed for a special status within the EU, why it rejected to join the Euro and where the fear of further European integration comes from.
The history of the relations between the UK and EU led to the current discussion about the Brexit, so we're going to touch the Brexit, but it won't be a discussion about the pros and cons of the Brexit.
The actual event will start at 7.30 pm, but I'll be there from 6:30 pm to set up the room and to prepare. Feel free to come early for a drink and a chat.

London European Club is run by dedicated volunteers, who don't have time to waste with people who don't show up at events. If you don't show up to three events that you have RSVPed to, you will be banned from the Club. Changing your RSVP in the last 24 hours prior to the event is strongly discouraged and may result in an immediate ban, especially when it comes to our most popular events.
