Let's meet at St James's Park tube station, walk over together.

"This talk explores the story of Britain's first female police force and the astonishing journey of the bold, complex women who founded it.

Violence against women is out of control. The conviction rate for rape is so low that most survivors think it pointless to report it, or live to regret doing so. Ruthless trafficking gangs run a flourishing sex trade. Women have no confidence in the Metropolitan Police. These stories appear in our newspapers on a regular basis. But here the year is 1914.

Speaker Sandra Hempel is a former Times journalist. Her previous books include the award-winning “The Medical Detective”, and a Victorian true murder mystery, “The Inheritor’s Powder”, which was a BBC Radio 4 Book of the Week. She also lectures and appears on radio and TV."

I booked five tickets, please pay me the attendance fee of £4 when we meet. It will go towards site costs/half to Dul.

I would like to set off quickly from the tube station meeting point. The room in the archives is not very big and bound to fill up quickly. I want to avoid us having to squeeze into single seats here and there.

Please note there is an attendance contribution of £4 which goes towards the yearly Meetup platform fee, and our organisers voluntary time, both necessary to keep this club alive and running! This fee will be split 50/50 between the host, Giselle, and the group organiser Dul, thank you.
