High Wycombe, Fingest, Turville & Hambleden – Country Walk & Pub Crawl

Walk length 10miles/16km approx. Linear.

A change from the normal Bank Holiday hike with a Sunday Country Pub Crawl. The majority of this hike follows the very picturesque Hambleden Valley from Fingest down to Hambleden Village.

The walk is less than ten miles and largely flat with the intention of enjoying a number of quaint village pubs in hopefully warm spring sunshine.

The walk involves taking two buses.

Lunch and Finish

Please bring a packed lunch and water for the walk. The walk should finish at 4.30pm however we may arrive late back at High Wycombe due to bus times.

Meeting points please read..

Meet outside High Wycombe train station at 10.15am (after the train from London arrives). Then short walk to Wycombe bus station

The group will take the 10.50am bus from High Wycombe station (40 Red Rose) that gets to Piddington for 11am (Single fare approx £3).

After the walk the group can take the 800 Reading to Wycombe bus from Mill End close to Hambleden (buses run 18mins past each hour) (single fare approx. £2).

Option to have final drinks at High Wycombe before train back.

By car: Free street car parking close to adjacent roads near Wycombe station (station charges on a Sunday). Please leave enough time to park and check for any relevant parking restrictions.

By train from London: The London Marylebone train at 9.42am gets to High Wycombe for 10.15am.

I would encourage you to seek out other members who can go as part of a group save on the train and meet from 9.15am to give you time to get tickets.

I would suggest you meet outside the WHSmith shop at High Wycombe to give you time to get a group save/buy tickets you may have to queue (see photo below). See National Rail Enquiries (http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/)

Train from London approx £19 return with group save or network railcard discount.

The organizer will not be taking the train but will meet you at High Wycombe.

The details for this walk may be updated closer to the date and an alternative walk may be put up if weather is particularly variable.
