Walk length 13miles/19km approx. Circular.

This walk explorers the scenic countryside from Henley to the village of Shiplake with a lunch stop close to Greys Court (a Tudor country mansion) past a mixture of river paths, fields and woods.

The walks starts from Henley (Henley renowned for the Henley Royal Regatta rowing event since 1851) going inland towards Greys Court (16th century mansion).

All the countryside is very scenic on this walk includes number of smaller footpaths as well as some major paths such as the Thames Path and the Chilterns Way.

The Thames Path is a National trail (184 miles) that was opened in 1996 and follows the length of the River Thames; the Chilterns Way is a long distance waymarked footpath that runs for 172 miles through the Chilterns (Bedfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Oxfordshire).

The terrain is largely flat with some undulating.

Lunch and Finish

Please bring a packed lunch and water for the walk. The walk should finish at about 4.30pm and include a 30 min lunch stop, however the time may be slightly earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace.

Meeting and Transport

Meet for the walk to start at 11.00am outside Henley Train Station

The 10.07am from London Paddington gets to Henley for 10.57am (one short change at Twyford). The organizer is not taking the train. If you want to meet for groupsaves suggest meeting close to the WHSmith at Paddington (see photo below) from 9.30am to give yourself time to get tickets.

Train cost from £21.60 but could be reduced by a third by using a national railcard discount or groupsave.

Car: The station car park charges at weekends but free roadside parking is also available usually close to the station on Sundays. Please leave enough time to park.
