Westhumble, Polesden Lacey & Ranmore Common – Short Country Hike

Walk length 9miles/15km approx. Circular.
A chance to explore a section of the North Downs with panoramic views from the Ranmore Common.
Ranmore Common is a wooded area just above the UKs largest vineyard at Denbies. The walk also passes the striking St. Barnabas Church, built by the famous English Gothic revival architect George Gilbert Scott who built the stunning former Midland Grand Hotel now part of St Pancras railway station in London.
The walk also goes past the village of Westhumble with a ruined chapel built during the late 12th century.
The walk follows a part of the North Downs Way, a long distance footpath of 156 miles long running along the chalk ridge of the North Downs.
THIS HIKE IS SHORT IN LENGTH BUT DOES CONTAIN SOME HILL CLIMBS SUCH RANMORE COMMON.
Please bring snacks and water for the walk, we will probably have a short coffee break at the visitor centre at Polesden Lacey. The walk should finish at about 5.00pm but maybe slightly earlier or later.

Train from London: Meet outside the main WHSmith next to the rail information point and Pret A Manager on the main concourse at Waterloo Station from 11.45am to get the 12.24pm train that gets to Dorking main station for 13.14pm for the walk to start (see photo below) We need time to get tickets/group saves so please be prompt (3-9 people with a group save). Train ticket from £12.70 return.
At Dorking. Meet outside Dorking Main Station for the walk to start at 13.15am (after the train from London arrives). Saturday Parking at Dorking main station is £4.10. Some side roads such as Calvert Road a short walk away are free (please check any restrictions before parking).
