Walk length 4miles/6.5km approx. Circular.
A journey of discovery through Hampstead exploring West Heath and the Vale of Heath, the most western areas of Hampstead heath with its Hanging Gardens, Highwayman haunts and possibly one of the oldest pubs in London, referred to in Charles Dickens 'The Pickwick Papers and Bram Stoker’s Dracula, all this plus a myriad of other historical titbits..
The mid-point of the Walk will be the Spaniards Inn, where we can get refreshments in the beer garden if it is nice before returning back to Hampstead Station.
Hampstead Heath is a gem in the urban expanse of London. Hampstead became popular in the 18th century as a springwater spa and the Heath is a mixture of woodland, ponds and open grassland with great views over the city.

Meeting
Meet outside Hampstead Station/underground (see photo above) from 1.45pm for the walk to start at 2.00pm. We will finish back at Hampstead Station. See Transport for London (http://www.tfl.gov.uk/)
The walk should finish before 4.30pm including a pub stop at the end, however the time may be earlier or later than this depending on the weather and pace.
Walking Safety: Walking is a great way to keep fit and generally very safe; however it does contain an element of risk. Before going on any of these walks you need to be reasonably fit and be prepared to be responsible for your own safety. You must wear appropriate clothing such as proper walking shoes, warm and wet weather clothing and carry sufficient food and water.
