A walk through The Medieval Quarter of Clerkenwell with its dark alleyways and ghosts of the past.
You willl learn How and why monasteries and markets were established and how they struggled to survive againstinst King Henry V111.
We will visit churches established by the monasteries and the famous Smithfield Market (earmarked for closure).
Whilst walking along ancient alleyways you will hear how the area fell into decline and became a byword for crime and poverty.
Also how it recovered to become famous for Jewellery, brewing and watchmaking.
If you have time at the end I Have organised a private viewing of The Clerks Well.
We will end back at Farringdon Station.
The fee is £10 cash or card.
