Chichester is an hour and a half from London by train .

Before Brighton was a sparkle in the Prince Regents eye , before Lewes became a Saxon hotspot , Chichester was an important Roman town . Known in Roman times as Noviomagus , it is the only surviving walled Roman city in Sussex.
