What we’re about
London International Meetup is an active group which arranges several different activities most weeks. It has been established since 2003. Group sizes are restricted to appropriate levels, depending on the type of event. There is no annual subscription fee, but for each event will have a small meetup charge to cover the organisation costs and to ensure the quality of the events.
Our regular events include:
- Social evenings (usually up to 40 people)
Come and meet other members. It is a friendly group and you will be welcomed by the organiser when you arrive. We try to use locations which do not have a lot of background noise. Food and drinks (both alcoholic and non-alcoholic) are available.
- UK day trips (usually up to 20 people)
We organise day trips on most weekends, usually to a location within England. We travel by public transport (train and local buses or taxis). These are social events - in most cases the group remains together for much of the day.
- Theatre shows / concerts (usually up to 10 people)
See a musical, play or concert in London. This is a sociable way to enjoy either West End or off-West End shows, often at a cheaper price than normal. We sometimes do "surprise theatre" events for up to 4 people. As tickets have to be pre-purchased you will need to provide mobile phone contact details when you reply.
- Walks (usually up to 20 people)
There is a monthly walk on a Sunday afternoon. Usually this follows a section of one of the special walking routes (eg the London Loop, the Capital Ring or the Thames Path). Lunch is usually in a pub or cafe along the route. A distance of 7-10 miles is followed at a sociable, medium pace.
- Comedy (usually up to 20 people)
We organise international stand-up comedy events, currently online.
If you reply Yes to an event, please make sure that you turn up (or if necessary change your reply on the meetup website if you are unable to come). For events which involve tickets (eg day trips or theatre/concerts) usually you will be asked to give your full name and mobile phone number when you reply - please make sure that you provide these so that you can be contacted if necessary. You may be removed from the group if you do not show up for a ticketed event without changing your reply or notifying the organiser.

Boat trip & Walk: Embankment to North Greenwich 🚶♀️🚶♂️
Embankment Station, Villiers Street, WC2N 6NS, London, GBJoin us for a sociable boat trip and walk in London, starting at Embankment and ending at North Greenwich.
Meet Thomas (the man wearing the brown hat in the photo) or Mark (who will be wearing an orange scarf) at the riverside exit to Embankment Tube station between 10am and 10:15am. We will walk down to Embankment Pier and buy our own tickets for the Uber Boats (formerly known as Thames Clippers) eastbound single journey to Woolwich Royal Arsenal Pier. The ticket needs to cover the Central & East zones. It costs £10.80 Oyster/Online/App or £15.40 if you buy at the pier's ticket office.
The boat is scheduled to leave Embankment pier at 10:40am and to arrive at Woolwich Royal Arsenal pier at 11:40am. If you wish to join the boat at another pier you can meet us on the boat or when we arrive at Woolwich Royal Arsenal, but please make a note below.
Boat timetable: https://www.thamesclippers.com/plan-your-journey/timetable/weekend-eastbound
After arriving at Woolwich Royal Arsenal we will walk along the Thames Path towards the Thames Barrier and then towards the O2 Arena. This is a walk of about 6 miles so should last about 2h30 at an average pace.
You may want to bring some snack food with you to eat on the boat or during the walk, as we will not arrive there until after 2pm and there may not be suitable stopping points for hot food or drinks along the route.
After arriving you can join others for a meal or drink (or even a film) at the O2, or you can choose to return straight home from North Greenwich (Jubilee line), or if you want a longer walk you can continue walking along the Thames Path towards the Old Royal Naval College and return home from Greenwich.
There is no meetup charge for this event - just pay for your own travel and food. There are different ways you can pay for the boat trip (eg: ticket office, using credit on your Oystercard, Uber app) - see: https://www.thamesclippers.com/plan-your-journey/ticket-information
If you decide not to come on the walk after putting your name down for it please change your reply.
