Join us for a sociable, picturesque riverside walk from Henley to Marlow. We will take a train from London Paddington to Henley-on-Thames and will walk along the riverside from there to Marlow. This is a walk of about 9 miles / 15 km (about 3h30 of actual walking). We will stop on the way for a lunch break at a pub or cafe in the village of Hurley, but if you prefer a cheaper option you can you can bring a picnic and eat this along the route (it is always a good idea to bring some water and a snack anyway).

Meet Mark (wearing an orange scarf in the photo) or Thomas (wearing the hat) between 10am and 10:15am outside the ticket office at Paddington train station. You will need to have bought your train ticket (see next paragraph) before we leave there at 10:20am to board the train.

We are catching the 10:38am service from Paddington, stopping at 10:54
at Slough and at 11:00 in Maidenhead (you can join the train at one of these if you wish). We arrive at Twyford at 11:07 and change onto the branch line train which leaves there at 11:15 and arrives in Henley-on-Thames at 11:27am.

Note that we cannot wait for latecomers as this is unfair on the others.

You should be back in London by about 6pm if you leave directly at the end of the walk (there is a train at 5pm which arrives back at Paddington at 5:50pm). You will be back a bit later if we stay on for a coffee and stroll in Marlow.

The cheapest ticket from London Paddington will be an off-peak day return to Henley-on-Thames for Β£25 (much cheaper than a single from London to Henley and a single back from Marlow to London). When you buy the ticket you should explain that you are walking from Henley-on-Thames and returning from Marlow.

If there are several people it may be possible to get up to a third discount (making the cost Β£16.65) by getting a group ticket or by using Network railcards (but you must travel back together if you do this, and you should carry some cash with you).

There is no discount available with a 60+ Oystercard or Freedom Pass on this particular train route (so you will need to buy a ticket to/from Paddington). If you wish you could save some money by using the Elizabeth line for part of the journey and join us when we arrive at the station in Henley-on-Thames, but this will be a slower journey for you.

There is no meetup charge for this event - just pay for your own travel and food.

If you decide not to come on the walk after putting your name down for it please change your reply.
