HASTINGS Jack in the Green Festival 2025 (PLEASE READ DESCRIPTION!)

MONDAY MEETING POINT:
It seems that the "Jack" will be released at 10:20am on Monday May 5th.
Let's meet outside the Fisherman's Museum on Rock-A-Nore Road at 9:30am and watch the shenanigans!

We can then follow the Jack and the festivities, and also explore Hastings and of course, have some food at some point!

Hello all!

The largest event of its kind in the UK, the annual Jack in the Green festival takes place in Hastings around May Day (the 1st Bank Holiday in May).

The festival runs over 5 days with the highlight being the release of the Jack, a man completely dressed in leaves, representing the start of summer.

The Jack is released around 10:20am and "slain" around 4pm, releasing the spirit of summer!

You are welcome to join us on Monday. Alternatively, you might decide to stay over on the Sunday evening (the 4th) so you don't have to travel so early on Monday morning. If you decide to stay over, please arrange you own accommodation - the sooner the better as the cheaper options will go quickly. (This is what I will be doing.)
