Hello all!

Let's visit Pope's Grotto in Twickenham, created by the poet Alexander Pope. Atmospheric grottos were a popular folly for the rich to build, but while most are little more than small shallow spaces, Pope dug a long tunnel and two rooms deep under his house.

Then let's head to Orleans House Gallery (we can either walk about 20 minutes through bucolic Twickenham, or there are several buses that travel between the two, including the 33, R68 and 490).

Orleans House is a beautiful Palladian villa that was subsequently named after Louis-Phillipe, Duke of Orléans who stayed there in the early 19th century.

MEETING POINT 1:
Let's meet outside Radnor House School which is where the grotto is, at 11am, wait 5 minutes or so and go in together.

MEETING POINT 2: If you can't get tickets for Pope's Grotto or don't fancy it, please meet us New Orleans House at 12:45. This time in a guestimate as I am not sure how long we will spend at the Grotto. We will update our location periodically via this website.

I post all meet ups on 2 different groups: The London Shyness Social Group – Shy and Introvert Friends & The London Introverts Group.
Most meet-ups attract a mix of newbies and people who’ve attended before.
On average, only around 50% of RSVPs attend. So please don’t be put off if there are a large number of RSVPs.
We are generally non-cliquey, gentle and friendly. Please bear in mind that attendees (and host!) will have differing levels of shyness/introversion/social anxiety/neurodivergency etc.
We encourage a friendly and inclusive atmosphere.
This is not a dating group. (There are lot of dedicated dating groups on Meet Up however.)
PLEASE CHANGE YOUR RSVP in good time if you can no longer attend. Large groups will discourage many shy and introverted people.
There are no attendance fees for this meetup.
