TAMESIS: A Walk from Tower to Parliament

Details
Join us for a carefully timed riverside journey from the Tower of London to Westminster, following the Thames Path westward through centuries of upheaval, culture, and transformation. This is London as seen from its true centre – the river – and we’ll trace its edge from fortress to parliament, through wharves, bridges, theatres, and back alleys.
We’ll walk around 4.5 miles (7.2 km) at a deliberately slow, spacious pace — giving time to breathe, take in the views, listen to stories, and let the atmosphere settle in. There’s no rush. This is about connecting to the landscape and its layers, not ticking off sites. Expect about three hours on foot, with space to pause, explore, and reflect along the way.
The walk is designed to coincide with low tide, giving us access to the exposed foreshore near the Royal Festival Hall – a striking, in-between space where the river lays bare fragments of the city’s past. While it’s not legal to remove anything without a mudlarker’s licence (so any clay pipes or pottery you spot must remain where they lie), we’ll still pause to marvel at what turns up. And of course, if someone happens upon an Anglo-Saxon ritual sword... we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.
We’ll finish at Westminster as the evening light begins to shift, with time to reflect – and maybe raise a glass – as London flows on around us.
Wear shoes you won't mind getting covered in sand and salt from the beach.
This is an introvert-friendly walk. I keep the numbers deliberately small so no one feels overwhelmed, and there’s no pressure to talk or perform. It’s a casual, friendly space to be ourselves, enjoy the city and just chill for a while.
